Our Lovely Pet

In total there is said to be around 400 million dogs in the world. The domestic dog has been one of the most popular working and companion animals throughout human history. Dogs perform many useful tasks for humans including hunting, farm work and security as well as assisting those with disabilities such as the blind.

There are hundred of different breeds of dog. The dog that we have at our home is the type cocker spaniel. The cocker spaniel is known as the "smallest member of the sporting-dog family."The Cocker Spaniel is the smallest member of the Sporting Group. He has a sturdy, compact body and a cleanly chiseled and refined head, with the overall dog in complete balance and of ideal size. He stands well up at the shoulder on straight forelegs with a topline sloping slightly toward strong, moderately bent, muscular quarters. He is a dog capable of considerable speed, combined with great endurance. Above all, he must be free and merry, sound, well balanced throughout and in action show a keen inclination to work. A dog well balanced in all parts is more desirable than a dog with strongly contrasting good points and faults.

My father bring this dog to our house for us to care. Our dog name is 'Rexy'. He brings so much joy into our life and help us not to be so bored anymore. Rexy keep us so busy and is a great way for us to stop thinking about food all the time and do something fun.

Deepavali gathering with our community

Deepavali is a time for celebration with lots of food and love but there are families which are destitute of all this. Noting this, the Subramaiyam Temple in Sungai Siput, Perak  organised a Deepavali charity event for 120 poor people on Oct 12.

“It is an annual affair organised by the Social and Welfare Committee and branch of the temple’s Cultural and Education Committee (CEC),” said CEC head Madam Tamilchelvi.

The poor families were given ration is worth RM150 comprising 10kg rice, 5kg sugar, milo and bee hoon packets, 5kg oil and other provisions useful for Deepavali.  The head of each family was also given RM50 and a goodie bag containing a blanket, Bombay mix and muruku.

Each child in the family was given RM5 as well as a goodie bag with sweets and chocolates. “We want to share the festive joy with the less fortunate because I feel that charity is an attitude everyone should cultivate,” said the temple committee chairman Mr. Letchumanan.  He, however, added that less fortunate people should also help themselves by finding a means of earning income. “God only helps those who help themselves,” he said.

The families were chosen by teachers of  SJK(T) Mahathama Gandhi Kalasalai school in Sungai Siput. A total of 400 people comprising temple devotees and poor families attended the event and were later treated to a vegetarian meal.

Mysterios Illness to the Jahai Tribe children

A mysterious illness is killing orang asli children from the Jahai tribe in the Sungai Kejar area of Perak’s Royal Belum State Park and the authorities are either unaware of it or believe that the orang asli are not reporting the deaths.

The tribe calls the disease serawan. It starts with white spots in the children’s mouths and kills within days after symptoms are seen. While the Hulu Perak health department provides medical services to the orang asli in the Royal Belum State Park, it is not always accessible to those who need it the most.

It found families among the Jahai who have been losing their children to the disease. An eight-year-old girl, Malini, died the morning after the team arrived and R.AGE was allowed to record footage of the burial rituals.

“If not for serawan, she would still be here,” said Malini’s grandfather, Kurup, who said that countless others have died from serawan. Bain, another man from the tribe, said the disease had killed five of his children, adding that he knew four others who had died from it this year.

The doctors said detailed tests were needed to determine the cause of the symptoms. Universiti Malaya anthropologist Kamal Solhaimi Fadzil, who has done extensive research on orang asli communities in the Belum-Temenggor forest in Perak, said the child mortality rate in Sungai Kejar could be as high as 50%.

One billion people on Facebook daily

Facebook is now valued at around $300 billion after it shattered its own records and now has more than 1.5 billion registered users.  Now it has more than 1.5 billion registered users for the first time ever around half of the world's internet connected population.

"We had a good quarter and got a lot done," said founder Mark Zuckerberg, "we're focused on innovating and investing for the long term to serve our community and connect the entire world." The figures in its presentation were eye-watering - eight billion videos are viewed on the site each day, 900 million people use its WhatsApp service each month, while 45 million businesses use its Pages feature.

Most of Facebook's new users come from outside Europe and North America. Facebook said ads on mobile devices accounted for 78% of advertising revenue, up from 66% a year ago. Chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg said: "We think we have the best mobile ad product in the market. We're able to target, we're able to measure. We have broad scale."

Nail arts in seconds.

Normally girls do like to paint their nails in different color. But nowadays they upgrade their self with doing nail art which is called menicure. Getting nail art painted on two hands usually takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. That’s not bad, although it’s not exactly super-convenient either. Fingernails2Go is an upcoming kiosk that cuts down that application time to just a few minutes.

Made by Tensator Technology Center, the kiosk automatically paints any design of your choosing directly on your nails, removing the long minutes of sitting that getting nail art usually requires.   It will bear the same quality as manually-applied nail art, too, so you’re not sacrificing any quality for the added convenience.

Fingernails2Go consists of an upright cabinet with an onboard display where you will choose the nail art image and a designated slot for inserting your hand. An integrated HP thermal inkjet printer does the work of applying the actual image using a specially-formulated ink that meets both FDA and EU health standards. The process isn’t entirely automated and unsupervised, though. Instead, the kiosk will always have an employee on hand, whose job is to prep and finish your nails. Before you actually get the nail art, the attendant will first give your fingernails a base coat and a primer to both protect the nails and ensure the image adheres properly. Only at that point do you actually use the machine.

Love trust by a Lock

You’ve probably seen or heard about the famous bridge in Paris, Rome, etc and a tower in Seoul adorned with love locks. Now, a similar concept has been officiated in Penang. Lovebirds can buy padlock and scribble messages of love before locking it on the 80 feet wide fence located at the open-air observation deck of the Penang Hill Food Centre. The padlocks come in various sizes with prices ranging between RM10 to RM30. And to help make your lock standout, There are permanent ink pens, protective sprays and hands-on design available for you to creatively express your undying love.

I went there during public holiday thus, it was crowded. So, if you are going to Love Lock Bridge Penang Hill during peak season or weekend, crowd must not be able to be avoided. By the way, the most remarkable lock we saw there was a sterling lock. Typically the sweethearts' names or initials are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away to symbolize unbreakable love. Since the 2000s, love locks have proliferated at an increasing number of locations worldwide. Couples are trusting their relationship by lock their hearts into this padlock.

Colourfull Fishes Around Me
I can highly recommend a best beach in my country. Of course I felt worth it to spend my trip there. While Tioman Island might not be a secret spot anymore, it's for sure one of the islands you should add to your vacation list when in Malaysia.

It's located off the eastern coast and is mostly known for its diving. But, there are also other activities to enjoy. If you aren't looking for a party place and prefer rather a relaxed atmosphere where it's still not over-crowded, choose Tioman island. I went with my friends and had a relax vacation there.

Of course, number one is diving that seriously I fell in love.  The first beach that is a definite checkout for diving especially is Paya Beach in Tioman. The sand covered area is best for sunbathing and particularly relaxing after a long day exploring the small town and shopping.

POLITICS

Sultan of Johor urged for English medium in schools.

The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has again urged for Malaysia to revive English-medium schools much like those  in Singapore, pointing out that because of the policy, the island state has done well for itself.

Sultan Ibrahim said Malaysia can learn from the way Singapore has forged national unity via its education system, which he said has not only helped develop the nation but also brought its people together regardless of race and religion.

"Singapore is our closest neighbour. We don't have to go very far; we should emulate them as the island republic has achieved development way ahead of . Let's be honest with ourselves. Singapore has done well as a country.  Their students have fared very well in Mathematics and Science. The prominent use of English has set them ahead of us.
He pointed out that English was used as the medium instruction in schools in the 1950s and 1960s and a pass in BM and Math was compulsory then.

I Went To Bersih 4.0 With Proud

While I’m not trying to be a infected on purpose, I do doubt the sincerity of the participants. Are they going to BERSIH 4.0 to fight for change , or just to watch what is happening in our country? But I went to the Bersih Rally with my father and brother to fight for the change with huge crowd in the centre of Kuala Lumpur.

Pictue with my brother and father at Bersih 4.0

Bersih, which means "clean" in Malay, refers to the Coalition of Free and Fair Elections. It is a civil society movement consisting of 84 non-government organisations calling for a thorough reform of the electoral process in Malaysia. It is led by Maria Chin Abdullah from the Women's Development Collective (WDC). Its previous chief was former Bar Council president Datuk S. Ambiga.

Bersih 4.0 is the fourth rally planned to push for Prime Minister Najib Razak's resignation as well as institutional reforms to prevent prime ministerial corruption. The rally comes amid allegations in the Wall Street Journal that US$700 million (S$981 million) in state funds was deposited into Mr Najib's personal bank accounts and alleged mismanagement of debt-ridden state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

All of us kept looking at our watches and finally we could hear the countdown starting from the stage. The crowd joined in the countdown and then loud cheers and blaring of horns resounded for a good while. Apparently shouts of Merdeka were being yelled out at the stage. Maybe it is time the powers that be started listening just a little to what the people want and realise that they are supposed to be servants of the Rakyat and not the other way round. Stand proud Malaysia and continue to stand up for your country my fellow Malaysians.

Why TPPA in Malaysia ?

THE Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) negotiations have concluded and citizens of all 12 participating countries will be seeking clarity on how their respective nations will benefit from this historic agreement.

It is important to recognise that in an increasingly globalised world, we will see more nations working towards trade liberalisation, free markets that will ultimately benefit the participating nations. The 12 TPPA members make up 40% of global GDP and approximately a third of world trade  collectively representing a population in excess of 750 million people.

The issue of government procurement has also been raised during negotiation. According to the World Trade Organisation, government procurement accounts for some 15% to 20% of GDP on average in TPPA-related countries. Many TPPA partner countries, including the United States, have government procurement set asides in their respective countries.

With the TPPA, Malaysian-owned businesses will have opportunities to participate in government procurement in TPPA member countries. This promotes competitive neutrality and a level playing field among TPPA members. We foresee that the final text of the TPPA will have some level of appropriate discretion for procurement with participating governments.

Likewise, easing of limitations on foreign firms’ participation in the financial sector empower Malaysian banks in TPPA markets as they expand and seek opportunities in the region and beyond.

The TPPA is a historic multi-lateral trade agreement and a significant milestone to US-Malaysia relations benefitting both nations and creating a wealth of opportunities for business and citizens of both countries.

KNOWLEDGE

They Have no Tooth???

Do you know which reptiles do not have teeth? There are only two general groups of reptiles that aren’t equipped with chompers teeth. Turtles and tortoise.

Turtles do not have teeth. Instead, they have horny beaks, much like birds. Carnivorous turtles have a sharp hooked beak they can use to kill their prey. Vegetarian turtles have broad, flat beaks for crushing and mashing plants.

Turtles are associated with an aquatic environment. They have webbed feet to enable them to swim well. Their protective shells are more flattened than their terrestrial counterparts, tortoises. This makes them more efficient swimming in water, with less resistance from a high domed-shape, tortoise-like shell.

Although turtles do not have teeth, the power that their mouths can put forward should not be underestimated.  If a turtle bites you, you will definitely believe that they have teeth, as their bite can be just as painful as any creature with teeth, if not more painful.

Some turtle species, such as soft-shelled turtles, have soft lips instead of sharp beaks. These turtles swallow their food whole, sucking it into their mouths and swallowing using the muscles of their tongues.'

Good health with digestive Zespri

Eating Zespri Kiwifruit regularly contributes to good digestive health. The fibre and actinidin content in Zespri Green Kiwifruit lies at the heart of Zespri Kiwifruit’s digestive benefits. This combination is responsible for all the beneficial effects on gastric and intestinal function.

According to nutritionist Pooja Makhija, "It's great for the skin, hair and infuses vigor and vitality in the day. The fruit works wonders for people of any age trying to lose weight and adapt to a fitter lifestyle. Eating kiwifruits daily can alleviate symptoms in people with chronic constipation and provide other essential antioxidants such as carotenoids and polyphenols for our body."

This is not it. The wonder fruit also helps improve various digestive functions and is recommended to diabetics worldwide, thanks to its low glycemic index. An energy power-house, consuming a kiwifruit daily can prove to be greatly beneficial for women of all ages, especially during pregnancy and childhood, supplying many of the essential nutrients needed for growth and vitality. But everything that is good is not always high-cost too. For example, the cost of a single Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit is actually lower than that of an apple, making this nutritional powerhouse an absolute value for money.

YOGA can help prostate cancer sufferers

Researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania have found that men undergoing radiation treatment for prostate cancer can stabilize and even decrease the side effects of the treatment with yoga.

For the study, which was presented last month at the Society of Integrative Oncology's International Conference and which is expected to be published early next year, 68 eligible prostate cancer patients were invited to twice-weekly 75 minute yoga Eischens classes, with 66% willing to participate, and 40% completing the course.

The effects of the yoga were measured by researchers in a series of questions on the patient's fatigue, erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and general quality of life, all chosen for being common side effects among prostate cancer sufferers.

A possible explanation for these benefits is that yoga strengthens the pelvic floor muscles and increases blood flow, which may in turn improve urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction, as well as reducing feelings of fatigue, which can lower patient's quality of life more than pain.

Previous studies have shown the benefits that yoga can have on cancer patients, but have often concentrated on female breast cancer patients, due mainly to the perception that men would be unwilling to participate in a holistic fitness regime such as yoga.
National statistics show that of those that practice yoga, 72% are female, and only 18% of those that practice are over the age of 55. According to the American Cancer Society, which funded the new study, nearly 240 000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year in the United States, and the median age for diagnosis is 65

Lee Chong Wei Smashed Again

In just five days, shuttler Lee Chong Wei has dragged off another unbelievable win. The unseeded Chong Wei performed a superb comeback to shock top seed Chen Long of China for the second time in less than a week at the Hong Kong Open in Kowloon.

The 33-year-old Chong Wei will take on Hong Kong’s Angus Ng Ka Long in the men’s singles semi-finals on Saturday, but it’s the match against Chen Long that he will savour.

Just when everyone thought it was all over for Chong Wei, The Malaysian navigated his way back to level the score at 19-19 before romping home.
National coach Tey Seu Bock was impressed with Chong Wei’s reliability.
